10 years since Freehold accident
« on: January 10, 2024, 01:25:28 PM »
10 years today since the car slid across the track. I was very fortunate that day to have raced in the 2nd rather than the 4th. Truly awful thing.

Horrendous memory. Case in point back track maintenance and poor judgement by track officials not to cancel that day. Starting Driver could have easily felt the instability in the track surface.

so unfortunate
once clear and the gate was almost folded  the driver should have just pulled to the side
why he kept accelerating is a mystery

Yes the track crew could have put some stone down in the 1st turn, however I believe that the incident was proof that racing doesn't get canceled until the damage is done! This time or year as long as most of the entries have arrived,it will be a go! Management doesn't give 2 shits if your 2hr. trip home takes 5 !

Thats clear and evident. Even after this accident, no real precautions have been put in place.

Debbie's husband Tim was the first person to sign off on my driver's application in the 90s. Nice people.

Do you know how the starting gates work?

In the case of bad weather the horseman’s association makes the call on whether to race or not. Not the track

Yes they never should have raced that day for sure. Add to that their starting car looked to be Lincoln Town Car, a real wheel drive nightmare in bad weather.
