Chris Ryder wins big race in NZ
« on: November 16, 2023, 11:49:54 PM »
He probably watched it on his computer

The red hot favorite stopped like he was shot with just under a mile to go. Never seen a horse stop like it did and he is or was the best trotter in NZ. If he bled then he has to come over here as no Lasix down there

Updated ATRIAL FIBRILLATION for that horse

Slow as hell time of 4.09 for 2 miles. My trotter I owned won this race 39 years ago which got him a measly 39,000. The winner of this one got $165,000.

Of course it was father and son Mark and Nathan Purdon winning again. They won 5 stakes races on Tuesday over there. No one can train a horse over there like he does

In all fairness it seems they have a deep sandy racing surface as compared to our rock hard surfaces, that can account for slower times IMHO.

Yep, it's different than when my horses raced on it.

Very few miles races because of the starting point which is on the home bend. It's a 3/4 mile track so if you draw the outside you are effed.

I noticed that a lot of the NZ horses race with the "Breathe Right" kinds of nasal strips.  Have not seen them used as often over here, especially in top races.  I would assume they are legal in all state jurisdictions??  I remember in 2014 when California Chrome (flats) ran there was a big "to-do" about it.
