The Power and Reach of Plop!
« on: October 24, 2023, 08:56:51 AM »
So I'm watching my local OTB channel last night and they are talking about one of the middle races from Woodbine Mohawk.  Waples and Blowe are giving their selections.  Waples selects the favorite and then says something to the effect "I guess that makes me a, what was it, a chalk eating weasel".

Those were the exact words written by Plop member Bello yesterday when he wrote:

"Pocono Race 1   I cannot help being a chalk eating weasel when they toss me races like this."

Did anyone else catch this?

That's super cool. Just hope no one quotes Petrelli "Ya'll are fucking horse killers and cowards"

I wish I could take credit for it. I don't know where I heard it before, but I know I did. It may have been Andy Serling. Pretty sure I can picture him saying it.

It's true....I've been contacted by many industry participants via plop.  I've even had top drivers like Simon Allard ask to drive horses for me.

  • Trigger: Flawed, if there is a carryover not every combo is being played.  You can't make money having playing AAAAAA if there 200 winners.  If CAW is winning everything why play, they're surviving off a low % of rebate against win/loss and work with gigantic volume.

  • Papillon: o agree with MTP1972-much more CAW action in the carryovers-not sure how much more than standard-the carryover is a mirage

  • MTP1972: I have a different take on carryovers. If you're betting a track who has a good handle like Mohawk the Early Pick 5 pool is around $100,000, maybe $50,000 for the Pick 4 pool. When there's a carryover the CAW's bet thousands into the pool and have every combination covered multiple times. In a smaller pool there's a better chance for a big score because less of their money is in there, same for the Pick 6 in California.

  • Trigger: Thanks Calhoun, GL to you too, big scores ahead!  Check out Mohawk last Sat early p5, $67891.89 .20 payout w/ 3 horses < 3-1 odds, the other 2 races, nw1 and claimers, wow, the perfect storm.

  • Calhoun: Trigger, $25k/$500per week. Sounds great. IMO, you have 2 best options. 1) 100% of play on certain CarryOvers.  Pick-5 Carryovers are best. Pro is Near EV or +EV. Con is it's a ton of work in 1 day at worst or 3/4 days at best. But $500 gets you a lot of coverage. ..2) Focus 100% on one track, WITHOUT a lot of ship Ins. Woodbine, Remington, SoCal and Texas fit. WDB and Rem closed/closing. Whichever you choose, you need to know every single horse. You MUST have access to workout videos. You need to learn trainers. Good Luck
