Red Mile Thursday
« on: September 28, 2023, 01:25:50 PM »
Race 1 going for $97k...... This is why I probably bet about 10% on harness racing of my wagering dollar.

2yo filly Burke/ Gingras duo, allowed to coast to front, get breather, sprint home.... Noone really challenging and driving likes its a qualifier race rather than $97,000....

First half 56.3                       Back Half 54.1

Control the pace, win the race. Now if I would have know that the horse that in last 6 starts - who has not been closer than 5th at the first quarter would have gotten an easy lead --- $7 win price looks great.

Race 2, looks to be a wide open 2yo trot

race 6

The #2, waiting to see this Burke filly to get to the big track... She can fly once they turn in to the lane, but at Scioto and Northfield, can be a little too short.

it was a very poor field, really only the 2,3,4 , 7 showed any ability
the 4 shows some fast miles at the big m back in late july /august and then mostly smaller tracks
most importantly yannick on board for the first time, he knew he was in against shit and so why not control the race which he did
when the 7 did not leave it was over

Multiple pacers in 50/51   go to the half in 57.2 (2nd qtr 29.3 )

Noone pulls --- back half in 54.4     zoom zoom zoom

What prices for Pick Pocket and the others when Sig Sauer jumped it off.

https://twitter.com/TheStableCanada/status/1707484289061859567

Don't think Sig Sauer was going to run away with it had he stayed flat.  Is he a better horse than Pick Pocket at the moment, Yes he certainly is but I still say he was flattening out today

Say what you want about Anthony MacDonald but he got his money's worth with this one so far. A Walner with Moni Maker as the second dam for $45,000 was a bargain and he's now won like $120,000 so far. This guy will get better with age. He still has a long way to go before he proves he belongs against the best but it's a good start.  I see Hutchinson Harness owns a bunch with the Stable, I am guessing but he probably takes a chunk and the fractional out the rest

I like Miller, but why is he sitting in on a half in 57.2? These are the top of the class 2yr. old fillies. Tetrick literally stole that race.

Karl in 1.51 and change and 5 for 5.

Still incredible how fast Mission Brief trotting there like 7 years ago or whenever it was.

WOW, Jimmy Takter says Yannick told him Karl could break 1:50 today if he had to.

T C I might be in trouble if that Canadian race flattened him.

Time will tell.

Takter is talking his book, as he (Christina) is owner also.  However, the horse looked good.  His only issue is that he does not seem to have any quick speed out of the gate, which can leave a trotter (especially a young one) behind the "8 ball"..  He was shut down in the stretch, for sure, so looked like he good have gone more.

Other "fun" sight of the day was seeing Jim Campbell with his "porkpie" in the winner's circle ;>>)
