All Time Favorite Race
« on: July 27, 2023, 10:33:34 PM »
Do you have an all time favorite race or individual performance? Please do not list a race involving a horse you owned, trained, drove or even groomed.

For me it is the 1993 Little Brown Jug final - Life Sign's legendary performance overcoming the Robinson Gang of 3 gives me chills every time I watch it and I have seen way over 1000 times. I watch it 100 times a year

What's yours???

And it denies Riyadh the Triple Crown with my all time favorite driver, Jim Morrill, jr

Mine was probably watching Art Official beating SBS. Of course Niatross was a great horse to watch.

I agree...getting to 3/4 in 1:19.1  (15 years ago), being collared by SBS and then coming back... great effort.  2008 Meadowlands Pace in 1:47

Pierce was fearless!

Art Official ended up as an aged gelding racing 4,000 claimers at Monticello 2012 2013   same trainer/owner   look it up
over 80 percent of his lifetime earnings came via that race

Good for you  I asked people to talk about races you enjoyed solely as a fan  thus not involving one of your own horses.

I was there  You are right. I was a young boy of 11 but remember it well. My favorite Monti driver was Jimmy Allen in those days. Read somewhere that was the first harness race ever for 250,000 in the state of NY  At Monti of all places

Western Hanover was 1992 not 1989
