You are right with Chappy, however around the backstretch he was referred to as Golden Hands. He drove quite a few of my horses

Here is one for you Kooter or anyone else.
I can think of only one tr/dr to collect over $100,000.00 in tr/dr % from just one race. There maybe more, but can you name the tr/dr I am thinking of?

In the 70's Jack Keiser wrote a horse racing column for an east coast newspaper.
It was required reading every morning in the track kitchen.
Keiser hated Stanley Dancer.
He wrote that the only way Stanley could win a race was to have 2or3 seconds on the field, and just go down the road.
He also wrote that the only guy Stanley could out drive was ???  ??? the dr/tr of ???  ???.  The arch enemy of Most Happy Fella.

the writers name was Jack Kiser and he wrote for the Philadelphia Daily News

he was outstanding covering the Grand Circuit horses when they traveled through Liberty Bell and Brandywine and later made some comments on a new track called The Meadowlands

i grew up reading his column at about age 10----1975 or so

i discussed those years with Marv Bachrad later when was going to Dover very regularly when we would talk about the good ole days

i miss Marv and Kiser was quite a character

This shouldn't be to hard if you work backwards.
With the standard 5% for training and 5% for driving, you would need more then one horse in the race , or if just one horse the purse would have to be over two million. How many races have gone for over two million?

I think there were 2 or 3 Woodrow Wilson Paces for 2yos north of $2 million

1979-80-81 possibly

When Jack Kiser was writing for The Daily News Nick Saponara was writing for The Bulletin in Philly

I do not recall that name

The Camden Courier Post had good racing coverage--but it was mainly for Garden St Park tbreds before the fire

I am not sure they covered any racing at Liberty Bell
