The profit margins in sports betting are minimal compared to the casino business. I mean minimal. A new facility with sports betting would generate a much much younger clientele, a group that we don't have. Restaurants and bars would do well. If a track was built there, 99% of its purse revenue would come from where it is coming now. The biggest sportsbook in America, ( even more than all of Vegas) The book at The Meadowlands in Jersey contributes nothing to the horsemen's purse account. A new entertainment center would be great but also costly. And with the supply chain on just about all products a total mess now, timing when to build will be critical. The Season starts soon. Best of luck to all.

Wrong.  Again.

$4,000,000 is going to purses from the sportsbook at Meadowlands.

Are you just ignorant or lying?

Please stick with your strength ... cashing your harness racing welfare check and begging for more.

Thanks

When sports gambling is legalized the cumberland people will get it bcause they have an otb license. I think that they want a full casino or at least slots before a new track is built.

Chief - i hope you are crushing at pompano.

its been a good year at the pomp. sad to see it end. lots of great times.    i hope maine does get sports gambling. anything helps. do wish for a mirical and a new track. not sure id want the cumberland management team. they seemed to not care one bit about on track attendence/handle.     lock is right that small profits on sports, but if done right with racing it could help a lot.  id think something like the old downs club dining, overlooking the track. race on sat/sunday afternoon during football. tvs on tables. might get a crossover with the racing going on in front of the sports crowd.    not great time to try much with the economy where it is now. hope that cumberland works to improve the on track experience for the few fans we have.  pomp price pick tonights first. the one horse pd the big easy. both q races were with ease and impressive, tad bit below on class but might hang on.

Ohio passed sports betting that could be ready this fall -- 0% to horse racing

Condition sheet looks good. Lots of opportunities and the late closers go for good money.

The track is really not designed to have 8 horse fields?  Horse shortage?

i dont know either. seems to be a trend. skowhegan went 8 to 7 wide. farmington 7 to 6 wide. cumberlands been 8 wide from at least the late 70's but might have been longer than that. id think they would do a trailing horse but condition sheet says only 7 except stakes. i would think the management team would be smart enough to realise bigger fields equal better handle. horses should not be an issue. i would not think lesser quality horses will head to the ridge as much with gas so high. run where you can win id guess will be this years theme.
