Sports betting must be doing well. He has no obligation to give any of its profits to the purses.

"The resulting robust handle on the product thus far this season, along with more than $1 million in purse revenue from sports betting added by Jeff Gural, the generosity of our many sponsors whose contributions help to defray the considerable cost of the stakes program and $4.5 million directed to overnight racing from the state of New Jersey have combined to fuel this purse increase."

I'm assuming so everyone knows where the money is coming from. He mentioned the state, his sponsors, and sports betting.

 NOW THAT THE HANDLE IS GOODER, GURAL HAS TO REMIND HORSEMAN THAT NO MATTER WHAT, THEY WOULDNT BE THERE WITHOUT HIM. PRETTY EASY TO GIVE AWAY SOMETHING THAT REALLY ISNT YOURS AND BELONGS TO OTHERS ANYWAY

He has done this since the Sportsbook opened & the State has kicked in money for purses. 2021 will be the 3rd year he has added 1 Million+ for purses.

  • Calhoun: That tri pool was $4500. Net of takeout $3300.  Out of 60 possible outcomes, the result was  5th most likely out of 60 (using win odds to calc). Paid 14 to 1. Doesn't seem awful. It also would have been bet pretty good by the genpop. Maybe rigged for the 3 to win but the tri? I think not too likely.
