Not very familiar with concept of pool seeding. Does this mean the gambler is now betting against the “house” as well as other gamblers? Will a computer be betting the $25,000 for the Big M or will Shades, Little, and Brewer be controlling the seed money being bet? I am not sure this is a great idea. Has this been used elsewhere in parimutuel betting?
I was reading that pool seeding is often done to stabilize the pools, cover unbet combinations, balance any other big wagers and that the bets were made by handicappers or computers.
I see lots of industry people refer to these situations as eating the takeout. Reducing the takeout is a more appropriate way to decorate the wager. In 99% of these situations, the takeout is not nullified by the carry/seed money. Saying the takeout is negated is disingenuous BS.
If the pool of new money is less than less than $166,600 it negates 15% the takeout...... No B.S.If the pool of new money was $200,000 the effective takeout would be 2.5% reducing the 15%
Did the carryover last weekend negate the takeout?
For all intensive purposes Yes, I believe takeout was about 1/10th of 1 percent.I believe these numbers are correct, so here goes......New money was $314,217 - 15% takeout of $47,132....... adding in the carryover of $46,731..... for a total paid out to bettors of $313,816 a negative difference of $401.
