are the wings of the starting gate supposed to be straight across? i'm watching Pomp for the first time in a long while and i swear the wings are angled so that the  outside horse is at an even bigger disadvantage.
i know it sounds crazy. can someone help me out

starting gates are angled too give out side horses a slight advantage
