I cannot understand the handicapping angle of using 8 out of 10 horses in a single leg. Why leave out 2 horses? The 7 almost made you swallow your tongue.

Used 7 not 8. Very limited budget tonight. Playing late Pick 4 and Pick 5. But I agree with you.
