SHARTIN N
« on: June 30, 2020, 09:31:18 PM »
In my 25 +years of watching harness since I was a kid I’ve never seen a mare as good as Shartin N. I’m just thankful to have seen a Champion mare like her.

Poetry in motion.

Congratulations to all involved.

I assume you’re referring to Tarport Hap.. As great as she was and I religiously watched her , I don’t think she was as great as Shartin is today .. But let’s face it it’s 40 years later .. The speed is so different today than 40 years ago..

TARPORT HAP WAS A TREMENDOUS MARE!!   FRIENDLY!!  SWEET!!  ATE APPLES AND SUGAR CUBES AND WOULD FOLLOW YOU AROUND LIKE A PUUPY!!!!  A STUNNER !!!   AT LEAST 16 HANDS AND SO BEAUTIFUL!!!  JUST THE BEST HORSE TO BE AROUND!!!  MAYBE NOT A SHARTIN N AS VERY FEW ARE----BUT, WAS A WONDERFUL MARE THAT GAVE HER ALL!!!  I USED TO WATCH HER AND MEADOW BRIGHT PLAY IN THE PADDOCK!   RUN 100 MILES AND HOUR AT EACH OTHER THEN JUMP AND KICK AND ROLL AND HAVE SO MUCH FUN!!  REAL PERSONALITIES! IT WAS FUN TO WATCH GREAT MARES BE JUST MARES HAVING FUN!

SOME EPIC BATTLES WITH SILK STOCKINGS!

THERE HAVE BEEN MANY GREAT MARES THAT WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH-----EVEN MARES LIKE APRILS SKIPPER COULD GIVE YOU CHILLS WHEN SHE MADE A MOVE!!  DIFFERENT TIMES AND DIFFERENT EQUIPMENT AND TRACK SURFACES!!!!   HARD TO COMPARE GENERATIONS BUT WE ARE ALL BLESSED TO HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE SO MANY GREAT CHAMPIONS OVER THE LAST 60+ YEARS!

Normally when you lead to the half off a 30 second 2nd quarter you feel pretty confident that you can turn away any horse that looks you in the eye. Shartin has a ton of courage

MEADOWLANDS FARM AND DELVIN MILLER TRULY IS A MAJOR PART OF STANDARDBRED HISTORY.   DELVIN DID IT RIGHT.   THE ADIOS PARTIES WITH MICKEY MANTLE, WILLIE MAYS, ARNOLD PALMER, ETC.    HE KNEW HOW TO BRING IN MANY FAMOUS PEOPLE INTO THE SPORT!

HE WAS FAIR TO THE HELP AND EXTRA CARE TO EVERY HORSE IN THE STABLE AND AT THE FARM!   THEY NEEDED FOR NOTHING!!   THE BARNS WERE IMMACULATE----HORSES FED AND CARED FOR LIKE NO OTHER.

WHEN YOU HAVE AN OPERATION THAT IN FACT CAN AFFORD THE BEST HAY, STRAW, OATS AND ESPECIALLY TOP HELP---YOU CAN STILL THRIVE IN THIS BUSINESS!!!!

I WAS ABLE TO BECOME "FRIENDS" WITH MANY GREAT HORSES THAT WE NOW READ ABOUT IN THE HISTORY OF HARNESS RACING.   ADIOS SURELY WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST STALLIONS THAT EVER LIVED.

THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS!!!!!
