Open window at MVG
« on: February 03, 2020, 10:19:02 PM »
Saw something I've never seen before today.  Race 10 was declared a no contest and all bets refunded after the window was mistakenly left open for 60 seconds into the race.  At first they said pick 5 was going to be refunded yet it ended up paying out on the final 4 races.  Purse money was still paid out and points earned still count for the claiming series.  Thought it was cold in there today.  Someone left the windows open ngc3 ngc3 ngc3

This happens every day at Lexington but not for 60 seconds and they never have any refunds. You have to pay for this luxury.

So, How much did that cost the track and horseman purse account I wonder?
Not sure how it exactly works.  Pools were probably an average of $40k/race yesterday.  If average takeout is 15% that is $6,000 that was not collected for that race.  How much of that goes into the purse account I'm not sure.  Maybe the tote company has insurance to cover??  I thought that the closing of the wagering would be tied into the start timer or something and never imagined it was done manually in todays times.

this sport is run like it's 1959.  so many techno opportunities * and, Still, the good, old fellers wanna run it like the old days.  spit in the bucket, slap hands, wink o the eye and do it same as ever.    It is a damned shame and that's the truth.
