Freehold Sept 7 2019 Race 7 ? Is This Unusual ?

Race 7 at Freehold was won by a 10 to 1 shot and the Place horse was 20 to 1.  Show horse was the favorite. The Exacta paid $172 and the Tri paid $76.  Shouldn't the Trifecta pay more than that? And why would the Exacta pay more than the Tri?  When two long shots come in first and second shouldn't the Tri pay a lot?

Thanks Spaheaven.  That was my first post/question since I just joined yesterday and for a minute I thought I committed a mortal sin. I am a little rusty about racing as I have been out of the business for over twenty five years or so and have not been to a track in years and years. In fact, I didn't even know you could bet 50 cents. I do enjoy following on US Trotting site and live streaming from Yonkers , Freehold, and Harrahs. Only horses now are the old standardbreds in my backyard that are way over 30 YO.  Thanks for the welcome and I will try not to be so stupid if I ever post again.

Many years ago at Freehold, I hit a triple that everyone around me said it's got to pay at least 2000. The exacta paid 197.00 with a long shot 3rd.

Triple came back 202.00. Turns out John Sheehan's (Winner) owner had the triple for 100.00 ticket.
