Jack Riggs the old hazel park announcer. Better than who? Worse than who? And what was the name of the guy who announced at northville who started races with” they’re all behind the gate , and heeeere they come”?

The old timers say Jack was good in his day,but i am 58 and started going to the races here in MI in 1973  and trust me,Jack was despised,one of the worst announcers of all time,very lazy,never called a finish,and had no clue about racing.John Houston is the other guy you are thinking about,brought some excitement,but a total clown

I thought jack was absolutely terrible. His calls were almost robotic. I loved when Marty Adler took over for awhile. Loved going to Windsor to hear Marty call races.

I worked in wings one fall season sunday nights 1980 w marty adler at windsor in his prime..understudy at time frank salive....

Marty for years terrific announcer..exciti ng with such an informed call...avid horseman too.
Fierce defender of game and never afraid to challenge politician or two who tried to do harness game harm.

Always entertaining on local sports channel 9 cbc..always used props to entertain viewers in sportscast.
Absolutely the biggest and most passionate fan of game..

if you ever were at windsor raceway you'd remember hearing martys voice over the sound system there..."5 minutes til post at windsor..dont get shutout"...."three minutes to post at windsor..dont get shutout"..etc......these were tape recodings while marty might of been 'making a selection'.

Im big fan of his. And thank him for years of entertaining and informing us as well..windsor, leamington, H.Park....
He was huge part of the show..and the days of teletheatres shutting off audio calls was to all of our detriment.

you have to be older to remember him, jack e lee from RR and Freehold was the best harness racing announcer in my lifetime.
