When did Monticello start using a $2,500 claiming race ?

I’m thinking it might be a misprint for 2.5K and it should be 25K
I am not Jerry Clark and I have no affiliation with in front racing

Believe me, it's NOT 25k. Unless a time machine is involved...

Awww, back to the 90's with Jay Randall and night racing, I love it!  Use to go there in the middle Jan. when every race was a 2.5 k claimer...post time 7:30...avg win time 2:04...memories.

Geez, where have I been?

When did Monti stop carding 2.5k claimers?

I remember when they really dug deep and wrote a $1k purse race for 2.5k claimers that hadn't won enough money to pay for a program in their last 5 starts. I can tell you this, nobody who ever qualified for that condition wanted to leave and take on the open 2.5k horses who ran for an extra two hundred.
