I think young drivers are something horsemen associations need to see how they can increase.   Lack of good drivers/new drivers and decoupling are 2 biggest threats to the industry.

It's a moot point because there is no future in harness racing for anyone regardless of their age.  Everyone is broke except the old guys like me who raced and worked hard in the golden days up until 2000.  Now the game is filled with people on a sinking ship.  I truly fell sorry for them because they have the harness bug but there is no way to cash in on dreams and desires in harness racing.

  • Calhoun: Trigger, $25k/$500per week. Sounds great. IMO, you have 2 best options. 1) 100% of play on certain CarryOvers.  Pick-5 Carryovers are best. Pro is Near EV or +EV. Con is it's a ton of work in 1 day at worst or 3/4 days at best. But $500 gets you a lot of coverage. ..2) Focus 100% on one track, WITHOUT a lot of ship Ins. Woodbine, Remington, SoCal and Texas fit. WDB and Rem closed/closing. Whichever you choose, you need to know every single horse. You MUST have access to workout videos. You need to learn trainers. Good Luck

  • Trigger: In 26' I'll make the budget $25k, $500 race avg, 50 races / situations i.e. p5 etc.  I ain't betting anything until I'm really warm and fuzzy.
