Barnsdale singles his best bet tomorrow night, the brilliant Shower Play, who will face elders in the 2nd race, a NW16K L5 event.  I don’t think Roy will go all out here for the 22K purse.   She’s had a tough schedule already and has bigger dates starting with an August 19 Gold.  Hamilton puts her on top, too, and she probably will be singled a lot.  Solid bet against!

Race 1 for 2YO Trotters is interesting, as well.  Five of 7 are paid to the Wellwood, and looks like 3 & 4 will take all the money.  I think Keeling’s Smart As Hill, #6, is great value.  Superbly bred and any advancement here should dominate.  Saver on #2, Peck firster by Trixton, with Roy booked!

Pick 5s starting with “34 with 3” will take up huge portion of the pool and I’ll be betting against it.

Any other views?

95% of the races I watch are WEG. With that being said I very seldom look at the analyst pics & for the most part pay little attention to them.

However, I do enjoy reading Hamiltons views & tidbits of relevant information he provides.

Just peaked but Exhilarated is sitting on a win in a field devoid of front enders.

R1... I'd probably go with 6-5-2 in that order while tossing 3-4.  Maybe the 2 is ok off the one Qual but it was 22 days ago.

R2... If I'm tossing the 3, I'm tossing the 4 as well for facing older.  I don't think the 2 is good enough.  Looks like 6-1-5 which is not especially clever.

I didn't look at the other races but if If I were to play the pick 5, my tickets would be based on this for the first 2 races:
R1:  A=6 B=5 C=2
R2:  A=6 B=1 C =5

I'd also definitely play the DD something like
6-6 for $35
6-1 for $25
5-6 for $25
5-1 for $15
on a $100 basis

To me, betting a p-5 based on tossing a likely 3/5 or less Shower Play in a 6-horse field plus going 2-3 deep in a 6-horse field in the first leg isn't a play I'd make unless I had VERY strong opinions in the other legs where I could make my ticket fairly cheap.

Basically, playing against a real short price I want a short ticket.

If it is me, I'm playing the Double expecting I'm right about one of my two top selections and hoping I'm right about both or get lucky otherwise.

Best thread I've seen here in months.  Good luck.

race 2
Shower Play's slowest back half last 4 races is 54.1. Now shes in a 6 horse field. Plus she was off a month last race Wont be worse than 2nd guaranteed. No reason to believe that Exhilarated wont give it up late again, plus shes dropping a win line tnite. Carm will not have her at her best tonight. Action Matjesty is the only one in here that I think can beat Shower Play.Action is starting to find those 26 and 27 last quarters she was famous for last year. The only way the 6 will be dangerous is if she just sits quietly at the back until the stretch. Shes a 1 trick pony. . Im lovin the 3-2 xacta box with a cover xacta of 3-6.

Have to agree with Calhoun on the play against on Shower Play, especially since this a bad pick 5 sequence.  Two 7 horse fields and 6 horse fields cuts down big time on the combinations too. Don't think I'll be playing this one tonight.  I appreciate what Artsplace has to say about Exhilarated but I think this one is playing catch me if you can. Switches from blind to blinkers too tonight. Right now 3rd choice in DD with the 3/3 combo paying $4 bucks right now.

Card is pretty bad from a betting perspective. GL to everyone playing.

  • Calhoun: Trigger, $25k/$500per week. Sounds great. IMO, you have 2 best options. 1) 100% of play on certain CarryOvers.  Pick-5 Carryovers are best. Pro is Near EV or +EV. Con is it's a ton of work in 1 day at worst or 3/4 days at best. But $500 gets you a lot of coverage. ..2) Focus 100% on one track, WITHOUT a lot of ship Ins. Woodbine, Remington, SoCal and Texas fit. WDB and Rem closed/closing. Whichever you choose, you need to know every single horse. You MUST have access to workout videos. You need to learn trainers. Good Luck
