Mr. Coffee was started by Vince Marotta and Sam Glazer. Company was huge and both founders were very wealthy.

Bob started going to the harness races at Liberty Bell when he was in University in Pennsylvania..... ..one of his buddies who went with him to  the track was the late Alan Kirschenbaum, ( who was involved in writing for some great TV shows including Coach) and later a figure in West Coast harness racing.
He was certain he would work for the family in Mr Coffee........... .....but his laid back , "dreamer attitude" did not sit well with the family...so instead they gave him mega bucks to invest in his own business....which became The Peter Pan stable......again a tie back to his "dreamer" way of life.

Mr Coffee never went bankrupt....but give Bob credit for some very clever horse names
