Monticello Raceway
Tuesday August 21, 2018
Purses: 56,400
Handle: 538,908
A dump like Monticello handles more on a Tuesday than most of your tracks COMBINED for the whole week!!!
Please stop bragging about Canada and it's racing heritage. It's in the crapper. Not an opinion. FACT!! Numbers don't lie!!

I'd expect a few of these tracks to be closed permanently in the next couple years as theres just no interest.

Hey Rabbit

Before you post your weekly numbers..check out the crowd, and read the story. You should be able to read it , they have no words with more than 2 syllables.
This was Clintons' last Sunday of the meet.  The slot parlours stay open 12 months a  year...so "their rent"  will go into a fund to provide purses for next year. And unlike Pokonose and other US slot tracks...the Ontario Government owns all slots in the Province of Ontario, and all the profits after operating expense go back into the Government bank account...to help pay for things like schools and hospitals and health care....NOT into Companies like Mohegan Sun.

WE don't pay health insurance , medications are provided for a small fee, we don't pay for Doctors or Surgeries or followup care at clinics.
Money from slots , higher gas , cigarette and alcohol prices ............reduc e our cost of living.

So keep on bashing small tracks and their purses........all have been providing space for the slots to operate  for years.........whi ch was much cheaper than having to build their own  buildings.  And most of the ones you bash..now only race once a week..........tha t was the new deal created a couple of years ago.    And when the purses seem way out of line to the handle..it is probably Ontario Sired Stake races....which are not paid from the handle...but from a Stake Fund.....funded by the slots, as part of a Government program   to encourage  the breeding farms and Buy Ontario race horses

Its time for breakfast..so I will have to leave you

Take a visit to Ontario some time.. Go to Mohawk on a big purse night...and be part of the crowds..they do get crowds many nights a year.
Go to Western Fair...London...o n a Friday....have one of the best buffets you have ever eaten..and enjoy the races. The buffet is usually sold out......and there will be a nice crowd watching the races
And then on the Sunday , stop by a track like Clinton and see how much fun racing can be

"And unlike Pokonose and other US slot tracks...the Ontario Government owns all slots in the Province of Ontario"

I don't think Ontario owns any slots. The Ontario government just supplies licenses to private companies who then run the slots & pay the government a fee for the privilege. The Ontario government has broken the provence into areas & any slot facility in that area is called a bundle, those bundles were then licensed out to private companies. Those licences/bundles were bid on by the various private companies.

Eyeinthesky Rabbit did not mention any numbers and I have to agree with him that a few tracks could be closing in the near future. You should have addressed this to wiggles 44 and Senor Dick.

Apologies....tryi ng to do it from memory

It should have been to wiggles44
