RULES and BURKE
« on: April 19, 2018, 02:00:04 PM »
Do any rules apply to Ron Burke?

race #4 at yonkers friday night he entered a horse Archangel Three. The horse last raced at yonkers on dec 16th in a NW30k. The rule at yonkers states that:

ATTENTION HORSEMEN: ANY HORSE THAT RACED IN A CONDITION RACE THEIR
LAST START AT YONKERS RACEWAY, MAY ONLY BE ALLOWED TO DROP 1 CLASS PER
START. THIS APPLIES TO ALL HORSES, EVEN THOSE WITH LESS THAN $3,000 EARNED
IN THEIR LAST 5 STARTS.

Why is Burke's horse allowed to drop 2 classes and race in a nw10k? as a gambler this is upsetting. Is Burke really that above the law? or is this just an oversight ?

You have to look at the Burke harness racing set of rules. It can be viewed in Gural's office at the Meadowlands. It is written in pencil!!

You guys are reading the condition sheet wrong--this condition applies only to horses that raced at Yonkers in their most recent start.  This horse did not race at Yonkers in his last start, he raced at Pocono

But please continue with your entertaining favoritism theories...

Rules NEVER apply to Burke-See groom pissing in a stall. NO one, well, let's make that NO NORMAL trainer would EVER get away with THAT story. Call Burke "The Teflon Trainer".

73cv.2  EXACTLY--BUT BUT he last raced at Pocono-"LAST START WAS AT POCONO"--so the rule does NOT apply.

You are incorrect! Rule is last race at yonkers does not matter where he raced last. you cannot drop 2 classes. call the judges and ask them

I think it means,  it doesnt matter where you have been racing, they will only use the last start that was at Jonkers
Yonkers now the #1 track in the nation

If this is really the interpretation then it just reinforces what a bunch of clowns they are.  For example, let's say I have a horse that raced in n/w 30,000 last 5 starts at YR on April 20.  The horse then goes to race let's say at Pocono for the next 6 months and at the end of that time, e.g. October 20, the same horse fits n/w 10,000.  According to the way you are saying YR interprets this, that horse if it raced at Yonkers on October 20 would be forced to race in a n/w 25,000 race because that is one class lower than what it had raced in its last race at Yonkers (back on April 20)--this would be the case even though the horse fits n/w 10,000.

Sorry, this is so nonsensical I still don't believe the judges at YR interpret the language the way you guys think.

It's the last start at Yonkers....If you raced in the open and then went to Pocono for a month and came back with  7,000 on your card you will be in NW 30,000

It's a bad rule but the point is that even if it's a bad rule, Burke should not be given a free pass if judges missed it. It might just be an oversight

maybe the judges will do the right thing. If someone is on horseplop and sees this and has a horse in the race they should call yonkers and let them know this is a violation
