If it were up to me I would cut the purse of the Meadowlands Pace but it wouldn’t be fair to do so for next year since we took nominations for these horses as yearlings,” he said. “But from what I can see the Meadowlands Pace was no great major draw for us.”

my sense is that no track without slot revenue would survive or if they did purses would be cut in half or more sending most owners out of the business and certainly dropping yearling prices
this is what happens when you neglect your core business  for 20 years and have to count on handouts to survive
but as we know with any business cutting costs with no prospects for growth just delays the inevitable death

Why should a track pay to host the BC?  The BC is nothing but a series of races for the good old boys club.  The same guys that manage to have their positives swept under the rug.  The BC races don't support themselves. The days of supporting the prima donna drivers/trainers are coming to an end.  NW of a ham sandwich races handle more than the BC races.  Let the good old boys compete against themselves at a non descript racing venue with only the revenue the BC races produce.  The "grand circus" is done.
