What Is Beau Jangles current realistic purchase value?
« on: August 16, 2026, 07:05:07 PM »
Future racing career?

Uncertain.

Being a fertile stud, muchless a successful stud?

I don't know, and uncertain.

It's a solid, appropriate question based on the the timing.

What's your #?

My calculations, $1.3 mil at max exposure.

I like your estimate. Buying a 2 yo champ at stud. If racing, he needs serious time off. What can stud fee be year one C$ 7500?

Now you bring up the huge elephant in the room.

Canada.

They're all in on this one.

He stays there and he books solid.

$7500 x 100 x 2 years - $1,500,000.

Pending he's fertile, and going low on the mares (exclusivity).

In Canada he is still a God
I thought about it some today
With BJ its one of two things
#1 Got cooked as a 2 year old.. to many starts
#2 He just didn't improve much going from 2 to 3
My family and I, former owners.. no more then 7 or 8 starts for a 2 year old.
Things have changed drastically..not for the better
If you go back and read through some of the threads from 2 months ago..
Its comical..was being compared to SBSW and Niatross  ngc3
People are so desperate for a superstar horse to save the game
The way the game is now, Niatross couldn't even save it

Only going to get worse with more and more horses being double eligible plus grand circuit.  The top money earning 2yos have 5 and 6 starts and it’s only mid-august.  Some fair horses have 10 starts.  If people aren’t smart enough to do it in their own, should limits be put into place for number of starts.

Limits, they can't even get them to stop doing illegal stuff, extinction lurks, go smart and sensible, reasonable based on science.  Not a chance.  But excellent question and I agree where you were going with it.

If it's take the money and run which it is, and definitely #1, and possibly tbd on your #2 this horse might be off to stud duty immanently.  Not going to fully blame bobble, but like you we all saw shit over the years.  I saw horses with no talent rise like a phoenix from nothing with guys like Case, and a bunch of others that were fearless and talented.  That whole group is responsible for this mess and again including what you said.

Awaiting the next race and predicting nothing.

I really didn't answer your question at the top of the thread ngc3
But those numbers seem reasonable.. maybe a little more
It's still tbd..
Even though the start yesterday didn't look great
You would have to be an imbecile to think T Mac wasn't an upgrade over bobble
As far as being burnt out as a 2 year old..its all a $ grab
It doesn't help when you are trained by the monopoly guy ngc3
Do not pass Go!! Do not collect $200 ngc3

cant beat the $ grab at 2..they succeeded

overraced and burnt out poor guy...

they took the $ in Canada...

Now at 3 ..fast ..rank now around #25-30 among 3 year olds

Weak maternal line...

Never raced outside Canada and cant beat Sire Stakes

average to average + horses..

Good guess....but as HOTY @ 2.  has to be worth

1-2 Million ?

IF fertile.....and alot of them have trouble first time

out.

Your guess is good as any

Canadian $$?  Or do they bring him to the States for stud duty when is racing days are done?

Would BJ be an improvement to what's in Indiana now?

If they keep racing him with the current results they will cheapen him every time he races.  There’s no guarantee how a horse will come back from two to three,  this isn’t the first horse that’s come back no good. Obviously this had nothing to do with Bob Mcclure, the horse was empty off a perfect trip for McCarthy.

The most interesting landing spots would be:

Indiana
Kentucky
New York
Massachusetts
Ohio

He raced about 24 minutes in his two year old career. There was a time when two year olds raced heats.

Jangles was worth $6-8 Million at 2

Now $2 Million and heading South

The weak Maternal line doesnt help...

And if you want a Cattlewash line...heck breed

to Cattlewash direct...

Based on your theory, do you retire him off multiple losing efforts to save potential stud value or continue to race him hoping he turns it around? Does every horse need a legacy?
