This saturday's Haskell drew a field of 8 and looks like a "walk-over" for the favorite. I had the exacta when Gosger had a five length lead in the lane and still gets caught by Journalism. They meet again Saturday. He'll be in the mix early. But Goal Oriented from Baffert's barn will take some money too! Check out the field and see who you like.1) Bracket Buster Oliver/Velaquez 10-12) Journalism McCarthy/Rispoli 4-53) Wildncrazynight Ward/Castillo 30-14) Burnam Square Wilkes/Hernandez, Jr. 5-15) National Law Duarte Jr./Ortiz, Jr. 20-16) Gosger Walsh/Saez 9-27) Kentucky Outlaw Dunn/Geroux 15-1 Goal Oriented Baffert/Prat 4-1
#2 Journalism will leave no doubt that it is between him and Sovereignty for 3yo c/g horse of the year.
I'm hoping to get filthy rich betting Magnitude in the Travers. "It is unbelievably exciting. Boy, he looks ready to jump back in the mix now." - Asmussen after the Iowa Derby. Now, if I don't get filthy rich from betting him in the Travers, my strategy will probably include laying off betting Magnitude at a short price in his next race when he no doubt pummels another bunch of crows a la the Iowa bunch in some trifling G2/3 prep for the Breeders Cup. My plan will then conclude by betting far too much on the horse in the Classic at 15/1, remaining convinced he's the reincarnation of Ghostzapper. At least I have a plan.
