MOHAWK MILLION owners slots drawn this week

The slot owners for the 2024 Mohawk Million were drawn at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Wednesday, March 20.

Woodbine received 21 entries for the million-dollar two-year-old trot race that will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21. The group of 21 were entered into an open draw to determine this year's 10 slot owners.

The 10 slot owners drawn are listed below:

Coyote Wynd Farms
Diamond Creek
Pryde Stables Inc.
Noel Daley
Hunterton Farms
Blair Corbeil
Brad Grant
Tara Hills Stud
Rankin & Venneri

All entrants have submitted the initial $25,000 fee to enter. The 10 slot owners selected from the draw will have until June 3 to submit the remaining $25,000 of the $50,000 slot fee. Each slot is an entity that may be sold, traded or leased. Slot owners must declare a horse to race in their slot by Monday, Sept. 16 at noon.

"Good for the Standardbred community for stepping up for a chance at a slot in the 2025 Mohawk Million race. The winning bidders earn a place in the big Ontario harness race and can race their own horse or trade their slots with someone who wants in on the action. There were 37 applicants this year – an astonishing figure given where the race stood just a few years ago. It’s a good example of an innovation in harness racing that has worked well. The Mohawk Million is a trotting race. Someone in the U.S. should do the pacing equivalent – someone like Keeping Pace sponsor Jeff Gural and The Meadowlands Racetrack. I will keep you posted."
