Rat takes out the field at Hawthorne's 6th race on Sunday.
« on: February 05, 2024, 07:45:27 PM »
In the category of "I've never seen that happen in harness racing", a huge rat took out several horses
in the 6th race at Hawthorne last evening. Right after the start of the race a chuppy rat, one of the thousands
that live at Hawthorne, attempted to cross the track from the inside rail. It ran out to the three hole where
Who'zzz The Guy was leaving hard. As it crossed in front of the #3 he tried to jump over the rat and made a break.
The rat then scurried back to the rail where he also took out the #1 Reserved Parking and the #2 Telstar who were also jumping over the rat's path. All three horses recovered their gait and finished the race. Just when you thought you've seen everything, you realize you haven't.

Saw the race on TV last night. I missed the rat, just saw the breakers.

Just watched reply, that is hilarious.

  • Calhoun: Thx I'm leaning to the 5 there.  Those CD/GP full field races look the best on the page. 1/2 length from being a G3 winner.
