No Vermin Turdsday

Vernon, NY --- Due to insufficient entries, the racing program for Thursday (Aug. 9) at Vernon Downs has been canceled.

Vernon Downs will offer racing this week on Friday (Aug. 10) and Saturday (Aug. 11) with first post at 6:10 p.m.

Horsemen are also advised that the next draw to be conducted at Vernon will be Tuesday (Aug. 7) for Saturday (Aug. 11). The entry box will close at 9 a.m.

Shortage of horses to start with then the stakes takes some horses. That along with the track asks a couple of the larger stables to leave results in enough horses to race 2 days a week. 
Those 2 stables are now helping Batavia and Saratoga fill their box...

Ans Batavia cancels Sunday

Track officials at Batavia Downs Gaming and Hotel announced today that racing for Sunday (Aug. 12) has been canceled, pending New York Gaming Commission approval.

Simulcast wagering and the gaming floor will be open regular hours.

“We have only been able to card 32.5 races per week since we opened,” Director/GM of Live Racing Todd Haight said. “And with no New York Sires Stakes scheduled next week, we didn’t see any way we could put together four race cards.”

Does anyone remember when a NORMAL race card was 9 or 10 races. This 15 races a night welfare needs to stop  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp
