Dover race 6
« on: April 01, 2026, 06:49:21 PM »
50k final and the favorite is on cruise control until about 200 yards before the line.  He is clearly in pain and can’t get off that left front fast enough, coming to a gallop just before the wire with a horse within 2-3 lengths.  Does anyone think there should’ve been an inquiry?  Should the driver have grabbed into him or pulled him up?  Connections seem like nice enough people, hope the horse is ok.  Didn’t look great at the wire.

I was going to a thread on this

horse looked sore in the warm ups

hard used... wins in 52 and change--clearly galloped across the wire in the final 25 yards

Dover rarely DQs anything--if she was lapped on there probably would have been one

agree they should have flashed the inquiry sign

Didn't even chart a break at the finish.

This thread is dumb as shit, you call yourselves horsemen, and experienced owners.

They're not a bunch of inbred hicks in Delaware.  They named the order of finish and it didn't go official for several minutes after that i.e. they watched.

Fucking steppy 5 lengths before the wire, weird steps, and then solidly breaks across the line, and no one lapped on.

The end.

I am neither a horseman or an experienced owner...just an old guy who has watched a lot of races

I don't think this is a dumb thread...there was no way it was close to a DQ if that is what you are referring to

filly was steppy in the warm up and half the length of the stretch--then clearly broke stride and ran the 25 yards(is what I saw)

of course she wasn't lapped on and it wasn't close to a DQ--but the question asked is "should they have flashed the inquiry sign"--the answer is yes and they did not--and I will agree it took a bit longer than usual to make it official

if that slight delay is interpreted as "looking at it"..that's ok with me--then the inquiry sign should have been flashed--showing everyone that they indeed did look at it--instead they delayed the official sign for a minute or two, leaving it ambiguous as to whether they actually looked at it

compared to most of the threads we see here--this was a legit one

That's where we diverge you saw 25 yards of breaking until and across the wire...I saw 5 horse lengths of steppy, and a break crossing over the wire.

I guess we have to speak to the Dover and other judges across Harness racing, look at the definitions and rules as they might have different definitions of what forensically constitutes a break.  I'm all for that!

Watched the replay in slow mo. I agree with judges (not that it means shit) that it was not a break. A miss step maybe but not a full gallop. Kids gotta learn not to showboat and hold on to them.

Now it's official with you - dumb as shit!  ngc3

Why don't you stop promoting cowardism, I pick up the phone and call judges, race secretaries...the other day a thread on why Heather France's entries were scratched at MV, two fucking seconds to get the answer, broken truck.

Call Dover you dummies and get the answer, then report and discuss their thinking, process and conclusion in a thread once ADVISED.

Then you can full time go back to being the pigeon and cuck these other more worldly ploppers accurately diagnosed you  ngc3

They WERE looking at it. The race didn't become official for a while, as everyone saw. The judges just forgot to press the inquiry button to tell the fans that they were deciding the official finish.
