I find it odd that the USTA has no mention of his passing. Really strange.
They have never heard of him but they know his famous son

Truly one of the greats. In my early days, pre-Meadowlands, when I was playing YR and RR, countless times I loved the guy, and just as many times hated him, LOL. But I always had respect for his talent and ability. Like I said, truly one of the greats.

Like you, I spent my time cashing and tearing up tickets following him at RR. Probably, one of the best driver colonies I ever watched. Insko, Fontaine, Dauplaise, Dokey, Farrington, Gilmour, etc. He was always in the "top ten" in that group. I rode by his incredible estate in Colts Neck NJ about 10 years ago. Just beautiful.

Carmine was a dominant force in Metro NY racing for decades.
although he did a whole bunch of driving for Buddy Regan, I don't recall him getting that many grand circuit drives---was that by his preference?
Deepest sympathies to Eric and the rest of his family.

My favorite Carmine story. He wins a race at Yonkers and in the winners circle they interview him and he is asked if it helped that he had the only Meadow Skipper in the field and without hesitation Carmine responded....not as much as the horse had the only Abbatiello!!  Classic Carmine

Actually, Stan said "the only Albatross in the race". Close enough.

He didn't need to drive on the grand circuit. He made his money at Yonkers and Roosevelt. A very good businessman invested his money didn't piss it away like many of the great other drivers did.
