I knew a Ron Turcotte in late 70’s down in Freehold and Brandywine .. he had a nephew Wayne Ecker if I remember correctly..

Ron passed away years back,he came back from training a horse,sat in a chair and died,I was in the same barn,Ron was always good to me and a fine horseman.

Ron passed away a number of years ago,right after coming in from a training trip,this was at Gaitway ,Ron was a good guy and a very accomplished horseman.

AGE: 76 HOWELL
Ronald K. Turcotte Sr., 76, of Howell, died Thursday, March 12, 2009. He was born in Mattawa, Ontario, Canada. Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He worked as a horse driver, trainer, and owner for most of his life. Ron served on the Board of Directors for the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association. He was always the No. 1 fan for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at all their sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lise Turcotte; four sons, Robert, Daniel, Dean, and Ron Turcotte Jr.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Monica and Gille St. Aubin, Melody and Wayne Elsbree, Marie and Donald Dupont, and Kim and Robert Beck; five brothers; four sisters; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 15, with a memorial service at 4 p.m. at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, 108F York Road, Hamilton, NJ 08620, would be appreciated.

I remember Ron turcotte when I was kid through my parents I knew all the kids too wonder what ever happened to them ?

  • dougie: I don't really know a lot about Mike P. but I support his cause 100%. I admire his humanity toward these abused animals. I now know that there is a very minute number of people in harness racing who really care about their horses once they are not able to race/breed anymore. Those who don't carfe deserve their place in hell.
