Pet Peeve of Mine

I'm watching Scioto replays from last Friday ( only had 3 races that weren't stakes )

And I see a driver leave from the outside aggressively but needs to tuck, understandably and gets away 3rd....  Here comes the outerflow and he sits. the longshot in the two hole backs them thru the field.

I know after leaving, coming first up is not the ideal trip.... But sitting third behind a bomb that explodes going down the backside is better an alternative ? You left, I imagine to put yourself into a winning position....

what's the next decision to get you to the winners circle ? Sit or pull.....

On the up note ---  watching replay, I will try her tonight and hopefully at a better price.

Launching off the gate and having to drop in 3rd is an awful feeling but sometimes you have no choice unless you want your horse ding donging 25 second quarters and limping across the finish. You've already used your horse once and that may be the only move they have.

 So you can be the sacrificial lamb and go first up and hope the leader jumps or spits it or you sit and hope for a miracle.

Ive done both and most of the time neither option had a happy ending

When I trained I would be like, sit, hope, and at least get a check...

as a bettor -- I would be like, pull, give him a shot even if futal....

I agree and the horse in the two hole in my example was done at the 5/8th pole, never leaving the rail paced last quarter in 32.1
