Mamba could not catch up from behind in the slop tonight kids! Brandon Blvd awaits!
Newsflash 3 hours later, you're an embarrassment ngc3
Stick bb in your anus ngc3 please ngc3
Why don't you copy and paste something that looks vaguely normal Wizardofjiz ngc3
Like a giant result chart word and number salad you f'ing dweeb ngc3
Do it correctly, make it look legible or just link up the site where you copied it from which doesn't look like a post of vomit ngc3
-
Around the 3/8 Wrenn started looking along the left side of the horse and continue to do that for 1/4 mile, so there may have been something that he thought was off. And, as otherwise noted, he just may not have liked the track.
-
got beat fair and square
-
Beau Jangles is counterfeit!
-
He didn’t look good tonight
-
That was an awful performance.
Is he cooked, sick or cooked or never improved from last year
-
I'm off the Beau train. I can understand getting beat last couple weeks those were two nice Colts. But tonight he didn't look good. Maybe hes bleeding? Either way I'm off the Beau train
-
bobble is the wrong guy for the horse.
Rest the horse.
Get a new driver.
53 4/5, these horses ain't 2-3 sec worse they're withing range this is really no shocker.
bobble needs to go ngc3
-
BJ didn't even want to go the gate.
He's in some trouble now. I smell a retirement.
-
All those front end and easy miles seems to have never equipped Beau with much heart. He may have had what little he had ripped out in the NA Cup. Horses can lose confidence and he may have here.
Bob hasn’t figured the above out. There was no need to power move into a 25.2 first quarter where they hadn’t backed down. He should have flushed cover at the half and gave him a second over trip. He is so nervous to her shuffled that he never puts the horse is a good spot. I don’t care who you are front ending Grand Circuit horses every time
-
All the 51 trading miles in Florida didn’t help. DM is brutal on one. Prince Hal is one tough animal!

Twice he screwed the bridge jumpers, ya think they have any $ left over for bullets ngc3
Many reasons why this schmuck should be pulled.
When he said the win before BJ's last that he don't want to make a mistake hurt her legacy, that was that.
You have to know psychology to know that horse became his kryptonite and the horse feels that negative, scared energy and that you all know.
-
I have no real opinion on Bob other than to say he's likely not the biggest problem here.
When a horse doesn't want to go to the gate, something's wrong. Whether it's soreness, hormones or something else, not my horse to figure out. But I don't think this a driver-rooted issue.
-
Fillies are better than the Colts this year.
-
Dr Moore can’t jog or work on the horse personally
He’s still sore
How many times can this driver guy this horse out
Sit in the fvkin hole come off a helmet
HES NOT A FUCKIN MACHINE
WAKE UP DRIVER
OR BE REPLACED
BRANDON HANOVER MIGHT BE THE BEST OF THE THREE
WHEN ITS ALL SAID AND DONE

I saw that gate issue tonight too
Could be sore or started to getting lame
He’s not running the bigm pace as he is now

Maybe it's a different type driver issue too.

VIDEO of race: https://youtu.be/IVt8uiFl6SQ Next Saturday are PACE elims at the Meadowlands so who knows if they even bother entering him after this horrible race! Right now they are probably terrified at entering him because if this continues he will be devalued at stud beyond belief. Look for a statement that they will check him out thoroughly somewhere before racing him again even though nothing might be wrong and he just is not as great as the hype by the horse racing media starving for a hero to promote.
-
Based on this speculation, will a few others enter that probably would not have?

As I posted after NA Cup eliminations, he is off behind. Is that the reason he has been getting beat? Who knows? Some can go with soreness, some can't. Also, sometimes a horse never gets any faster from 2 years old to 3 while others do.

If you trained, owned BJ would you ever allow this driver on that horse who from his own words is absolutely riddled with fear to lose on him, and before you answer please listen for yourself?
This is from May 17, 2026, Mohawk Race 7 BJ's second pm win as a 3yo after his layoff.
Pick it up at 5m mark, he's asked about the "pressure" in the interview of driving BJ....
"I don't want to make a mistake that is going to tarnish this horse's legacy in the end."
"I don't want to do anything that's going to be a blemish on there."

Just watched the replay, couldn't watch last night
Bad drive, getting cooked to a half in 53..but having said that, the horse doesn't look right. Something is off there.
Brandon Blvd the best 3 year old this year with the best driver
-
I dont think Bob is to blame. He's doing nothing different than Dex..yannick.. Timmy or anyone else would do. Beau is supposed to be the inferior colt and with the type of horse he supposed to be moving to the lead in a 53 half shouldn't cook him. The horse is clearly not right something is wrong with him. He was on the run behind the gate and has been struggling to clear Colts he was beating under wraps. With that being said Brandon blvd is the best 3 year old colt hands down! I was excited I thought we had a summer of battles coming up but it appears Beau has left the chat. I do believe something is wrong with him and I'm sure they will figure it out. I dont think blaming Doc Moore or Bob who have been there from the start and developed him into what he was/is is the correct thing. Sad thing is most people pointing fingers probably have never owned or dealt with a horse who could pace 58 never mind 48
-
They'll get it figured out and fixed! Definitely looks like there's alot of "Head
Scratching" going on right now. There's also probably some "throwing darts and see what sticks also happening". I don't think that he will continue much longer if he doesn't show improvement, but what do I know?? ngc3

Yeah, I think they're at a tipping point now. If they can't right the ship here quickly, his stud value's going to start to tarnish.
For everyone wanting to blame the driver, that's your prerogative, but it's not the only thing going on here. Anyone who thinks so hasn't been around many, if any, horses, as I think MCR was alluding to.

It is clearly both driver and horse
Both things can be true at once
Driver always has a huge roll to play.

99.9 he doesnt enter at the pace. horse needs a few weeks to find his heart that got ripped out in his previous two races. tough setback to recover from.
-
The horse may not be right (probably) and Bob not at fault (maybe) but if the first is true then Bob isn’t helping him out. Horse just had two tough losses and is no longer undefeated find him a 2nd over trip so he doesn’t have to do the heavy lifting. Who cares if he gets beats - let him pace by some horses. You have to be much the best to front end those types of horses off a half in 53 - he has someone at his throat the whole mile, especially when you power move into the half. The outflow has already started and they aren’t scared of you anymore.
Bartlett would be terrible for this version of Beau. He needs someone who will take care of him a bit for a few starts.
Stud barn is littered with $5k fees for 49 2 year olds that were also 49 3 year olds

Yes, this is where I'm more inclined to find fault with him. You really can't blame him for driving him like he was the best 2 of the last 3 starts. Last night when the horse protested even going to the gate, it was likely time to call an audible and try to trip the horse out, even if they did think they had him back to where he was.
The Beau we saw prior to NA Cup elims should have been able to handle the trip last night. Maybe he still gets beat, but not like he did.

I don't really agree with your assessment of OOMM. That horse did a lot of shipping around and the track looked dismal. Wrenn's no moron.

I think people have overrated or have unreasonable expectations Beau Jangles for a number of reasons:
1) He has only one start on a track other than Mohawk and that was a "ship" of less that 1 hour.
2) Most of the year he beat up on Ontario sired horses. Just because he beat Grand Circuit horses at two does not translate into domination at three.

I don't necessarily disagree with either point. I will say though, he really had a more impressive look than most coming into his 3yo year, and even his first couple this year. I think he's regressed as opposed to just others getting better, but I could be wrong.
If he's being a little sulky, a change of venue might actually help him some. But they've got to be thinking long and hard about sending him south.

As I posted after NA Cup eliminations, he is off behind. Is that the reason he has been getting beat? Who knows? Some can go with soreness, some can't. Also, sometimes a horse never gets any faster from 2 years old to 3 while others do.
Standardbred horses typically stop growing in height between ages 4 and 5, but they continue to "fill out," gaining muscle mass, width, and weight, until they are 6 to 8 years old. While their legs achieve skeletal maturity early, their spinal vertebrae take much longer to fuse and fully develop. The timeline breaks down as follows:Age 2: Reach approximately 98% of their mature height and 96% of their mature weight . Growth plates in the lower legs are closed .Age 4 to 5: Final height is usually reached, although some individuals might continue to add subtle height until age 7.Age 6 to 8: The spine and back growth plates fuse, allowing the horse to fully mature, widen, and develop deep muscle mass, especially along the topline.
In theory, they should get faster because of this. Is there still gas in the tank for later years or was the tank emptied at 2? Injury could also be a factor why they don't get faster.

Can you imagine if he was racing sub 149 miles with a lung infection, probably not, right?
The story as you said...

I knew yesterday but I promised I wouldn't say anything until they officially announced.

Hey Mike, In your opinion is it possible he had this infection when he suffered his 1st two defeats? You would think Doc Moore would have known if he had it back then though

"Yes, an equine lung infection can absolutely be undetectable during the early or subclinical stages. Because horses possess massive respiratory reserves, they often mask symptoms until the disease is advanced. In many cases, mild or stealth infections only become obvious during peak athletic exertion."
-Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine
"Yes, an early-stage lung infection—often falling under the umbrella of Equine Asthma (formerly Inflammatory Airway Disease) or mild pneumonia—will negatively affect a Standardbred's running performance. Even in the early stages, it significantly impairs their racing ability."

Well, that may explain it. He didn't put up much of a fight in those 2 early losses either. Thx for info on lung infections.

We might never know though if he did or not.
But if it takes some time to develop a equine lung infection to be diagnosed, then the probability is in favor he might of.

Tim, All I know is he scoped clean when he got beat in the NA Cup eliminations. The connections are considering adding Lasix but they haven't made a final decision on that

Do you know or can find out the specific type lung infection?

See...
"Equine lung infections can become clinically apparent anywhere from 24 hours to several weeks after exposure, depending on the underlying cause. Because horses are prey animals, they naturally mask breathing issues, meaning a mild infection might progress to a severe stage before visible symptoms actually..."
Also depends on the specific type infection...
"Viral (e.g., Equine Influenza, EHV): Signs typically appear very rapidly, usually within 1 to 3 days of exposure. Watch for a sudden high fever, dry cough, and clear nasal discharge.
Bacterial (e.g., Streptococcus equi / Strangles): The incubation period generally lasts 2 to 10 days. Clinical signs include a harsh cough, thick white/yellow nasal discharge, and swollen lymph nodes.
Pleuropneumonia / "Shipping Fever": This severe transport-related infection can develop in as few as 1 to 3 days, though signs are typically noted within a week. Initial signs may just be a dull attitude and mild fever before breathing becomes painful.
Aspiration Pneumonia: Occurs shortly after inhaling foreign material (like food or water). Symptoms often start within hours to a few days."

Also...
No, a scope (endoscopy) alone cannot 100% determine if a horse has a lung infection. While it is a highly valuable tool, a scope only provides visual information of the upper airway and the main windpipe (trachea). It allows a veterinarian to see structural issues, check for blood, and evaluate the amount and color of mucus. However, the actual lungs are located too deep in the chest for the camera to reach. A perfectly normal-looking trachea does not guarantee the lungs are infection-free, and visual inflammation in the trachea could be caused by allergies, dust, or asthma rather than an infection. To achieve a 100% definitive diagnosis of a lung infection, veterinarians rely on a scope in combination with other diagnostic tools:Tracheal Wash (TW): The vet uses the scope to guide a sterile tube into the airway, flush the area with sterile saline, and collect the fluid. This fluid is sent to a lab for cytology (analyzing cells) and culture to identify the specific bacteria and determine the correct antibiotic.Bronch oalveolar Lavage (BAL): This procedure goes much deeper into the lungs to collect fluid from the deep airways to diagnose issues like equine asthma or lower respiratory infections.Thorac ic Ultrasound: This is crucial for evaluating the surface of the lungs to check for abscesses, pleuropneumonia (fluid in the chest cavity), or consolidation (areas of the lung that are solid due to infection).Thoracic Radiographs (X-Rays): These can be used to look deeper into the lung tissue, although their effectiveness is sometimes limited by the large size of an adult horse.

Like I said, he scoped clean after NA Cup eliminations but Moore probably pulled blood at some point and found an elevated WBC.

Thanks Mike!
My inquiries into equine sciences were to understand it and probability, not to challenge you or Doc Moore.
I appreciate you, personal candor and expertise.
If we find out the specific infection we still may never know but could point to possibly the probability could be high (may not be) and truly how great BJ is beyond what we've seen.
A fully recovered BJ, watch out! ;D

CT Scan would have found it early!

I am sorry to hear Beau has that lung infection. I remember when I owned my four at Pompano. The vet was always at the barn for something. A hoof infection. Or Colic. Or ulcers. Was always amazed how these strong beautiful specimens of perfection are so fragile. Best of luck to Beau!
-
Wonder if that means we get eliminations after all as some lesser horses give it a go seeing BJ is out and Mamba is not unbeatable
-
Most likely they'll be 2 eliminations

Why is there always an underlying reason when a horse gets beat? Could it be he is just not as great as was hyped and stud value is the issue going forward? They will NEVER reveal the truth when millions are on the line. What if they say in 2 months he is just 'not the same horse' so we plan on retiring him to stud. He had 3 races and lost all 3 so NOW they check him out before the another big time race coming up?
-
Bingo tmbz1 Don't tell MR KARL that though. He knows someone creditable for everything that happens.
His part owner friend isn't going to say what you said. Trying to preserve breeding value. Ducking another
loss, especially traveling to U.S.

Good work!
Thanks!!
He gets well I hope we see him start bouncing from September on everywhere in NA he can grab a major stakes win and land in Scioto for the Breeders Crown!
Get the F out of Canada, enough with the coddling and cherry picking.
6 races the remainder of the year should cement his legacy and I'll even put an * next to his loses!
bobble though, I'd rather guzzle liquid Drano ngc3

Where else was he supposed to race?
his jurisdictional stakes go for $140,000
the 3 biggest grand circuit races have all been in Canada. Metro, Breeders Crown and NA Cup
what coddling ? he’s still the richest colt in the division by a good margin

is Mamba a guarantee to be entered? he didn’t appear 100% the other night either

These Canadian superstars and lung infections - last year it was Chantilly and this year BJ. I think they even got it right around NA Cup time as well - must be something in that early summer Ontario air
