He may well turn out to be one of the greatest ever, but a 1:52 qualifier in April made no sense. We will see how long he can survive moronic handling like that.

Don't want to interrupt the personal hatred and animosity here, but getting back to Karl...I watched this Q closely yesterday. The entire crop has a lot of catching up to do to get up to where this colt is. Sure, it's May 1, but he is so far ahead of the rest in where he is at and what he's doing -- and he makes it look easy. Whew. If yesterday's qualifier is his best, and this is where he stays, he still might be the best. He just makes a 26 and change quarter look easy, does it so effortless, etc. Even his third quarter where he opened up, he simply does what he does in what seems to be little to no effort. The road to the Hambo always has horses turning the corner quickly, coming on from the middle of the pack, and so on. This time, any of them, have a long way to go.

Also, Linda Toscano's horse It's My Show also won his Q in 1:49 and 3.

He won't even be close to being the greatest.  He's lame and Yannick can't drive him.  He's a passenger.  He can't even follow with the horse because he's not manageable.  My guess is he is lame behind and running from the pain.  Time will tell but it seems way to early to be going that fast.

Looked manageable to me ; 29.3   58.0    (28.2)   1:25.3    (27.3)   1:52.1    (26.3)   Granted he was on the engine doing it his way. But a first half in .58 and home in 54.1 in hand is not the work of a horse that can't be driven and is lame. But, you may know something I don't.

You two have absolutely opposite posts but damn one of you are right and I could go with either.  I'm going with the latter since 26.3 and his connections make it very hard to believe this horse is out of control or ever going to be tired.

For those of you that say he blew right by TCI. You gotta admit TCI wasn’t right that day. Maybe sick or maybe just tired frustrated m a long season of shipping and racing all over NA. Karl was managed carefully last year.  Maybe by plan or maybe because there is something to that hitch behind. We will see. This is a new strategy by Takter qualifying this early on one he thinks is Hambo quality

Anyone who doesn't think Jimmy still runs the show is crazy.  Maybe he is ready early and there trying to do a Walner and blast him a hige mile then he mysteriously has broken down and never races in Hambo?  Can't lose if you don't race.  Something is not right with him.  He was hitchy last yr and he's not right this yr.  Look at how he is rigged and you will see.  When they trained him at Meadowlands early this yr before Qua he couldn't stay flat.  Known FACT that everyone seen when he galloped the entire mile.

Nope. Nancy handles the day to day operations but Jimmy is still calling the shots. Not even going with the conspiracy theories about Jimmy retiring, if you got access to someone that was that successful you use them to your full advantage.

I wouldn’t throw him out of the barn. But he got a lot to prove before I’ll say he is greatest of all time

Agree. But he looks wicked when they set him free. He also looks as if he loves to go.
