I remember the play with the goalie. He took a blade to the neck. Every time his heart beat the blood squirt all over the place. Scary stuff but once the medical personal got to him they knew he would be fine. Monday night they didn’t know if Damar would live or not. That was the difference.

Last year a high school kid in Connecticut bled out and died  in a hockey game when a skate went across his neck.. just awful

It was a very unfortunate situation what happened to the young man but I agree that we are giving this way too much attention and not enough publicity given to the people who really deserve it. Athletes entertain us that’s fir sure but they’re not very important in the grand scheme of life. Military personnel and fire and police officers pass away every day and nobody cares. I hope Hamlin recovers and lives a happy life but I for one am tired of seeing this as the headline of the newscast every night. It’s getting old.

United States Presidents John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan were shot on national TV and received way less media and press coverage. Give it a rest already. Nice to see him recover but come on. In the grand scheme of life this guy is an athlete. Not important at the end of the day. Think of all of the first responders killed on 911 and nobody even recognized them to the degree as this guy. That just shows you were our country is socially in this generation.
