Watched a race or two today.
IMHO he's pretty good!
Anyone know anything about Mike Sardella?

I think he is above average race caller. One of the better announcers and handicapping

Deserves a bigger stage than spa. I rarely bet saratoga but have watched a fair # of races live and on video. Doesn't make mistakes and never flinches at calling a close race at wire if possible.

Great at calling the tight finishes, unique style and descriptions, always sees the whole picture, who has horse and is reving up. Not a hum drum dry call like the Yonkers guy. Also writes a good column up here for the local papers covering the track.  His brother is the trainer who used to claim horses from Beckwith on a regular basis. Beckwith finds them, gets them ready, puts them in a class where they have a chance, and Sardella would claim them. Beckwith sooner or later would claim them back. Just not alot of claiming races anymore.
