Thursday Monticello
« on: April 18, 2024, 10:02:18 AM »
Couldn't watch the first 7 races from last Thursday as the fog and rain was so bad you could barely see them at the wire.

Race 1    #6  Given Up Dreaming - last week, parked the whole mile, he kept trying. Only getting beat by two lengths
downside, Will he he leave and possibly be put into another tough trip
upside, he drops from the straight 5 claimer to NW 5 claimer ( if there is a difference )

Race 5     #3   Pike Rock - had the two hole last week, and got bounced around. Whatever move Kyle D made, it
                       didn't work ( but I give him credit - he was trying ) .

** Bonus For Monday At Pocono **
Race 2     #4   Toy With Me --- half went in 100.3 and mile in 58.4 in the slop.  With a very fast back half, he closed
an extra 5 lengths and was 3-4 wide on the last turn...
He is now 3 for 3 this year and because of the amount of money made fits a NW 1 at Pocono.

Went three deep early down the backstretch and got up for second behind the 2-5 favorite.
                      Exacta came back $21.80

a neck by the 6-5 favorite at 8-1

I didn’t think the quality of racing programs at MR could get any worse until this week. Seven race cards with two being amateur races. My goodness where have all the goods times gone at this track?

Take a look at the 5th race on Tuesday - non winners of 2. The third choice won by 17 lengths, not an easy thing to do!!!  The quarters were 28.3, 29.4, 30.3 and 30.3. The two breakers (one at the start) in the race had no impact on the margin of victory in my opinion.......the winner was up by 6 at the 1/4 and by 10 at 3/4's ........I've watched the race three times and still can't understand how that horse or ANY horse at Monticello can win by 17 lengths.........
