it takes the classification out of the racing sec. hands.  iron out some off  the bugs and it could be good.  horses that haven't raced in months are at a disadvantage. i think it is being used at ocean downs.

A track tries to do something different, and people complain, they do it the old way and people complain, the go back to A B C and horsemen complain the sec is playing favs.  One thing about racing, people are going to complain. Tracks should just tell the whiners Fuck off and go somewhere else

Rubbish is what it is. How can a number possibly be reliable in classification of a field. They work out a par number of all of the horses past races which are from speed numbers earned. With the PED's being used rampantly in all of horseracing no number or formulation of numbers will work. Just look at how speed numbers have deteriorated price in Thoroughbreds everyone has their numbers and some are better than others but still they cannot be relied upon as gospel because the best number only wins 30-33% of the time at all tracks.
Tim,

You ignorant dolt.

This is how they classify races in Europe and Hong Kong, at tracks that handle in one race what most tracks in NA handle in a month.

Hope that helps.

I'm all for it. Most race secretaries cater to their buddies. Numbers don't discriminate.

I'll second that!

tmbz1--its a great idea and one worth trying because the numbers are based on fact-not opinion.
