This was officially his last drive on the East Coast. Meadowlands even honored him last night. Harrah's Philly track announcer Mike Bozich had a testimonial for him prior to the race.

This might be his last full time drive on east coast but I am sure he will travel out there the next few years for the right horse

he likely wont get the right horse unless it comes from ohio
he wont be around new jersey to school and qualify babies and that's where it starts

I am very glad to see Dave relocate on his terms, his way, and so on. Whether he travels or not, comes east or not, does the grand circuit, all or in part.....I am very happy that it's up to him. If he wants the business, he'll go try and get it, and to some extent, he will. If he doesn't, he won't. Great for him. I wish him all the best!

Lots of good horses in Ohio and Burke will have many of them.

Dave Palone made the decision to drive almost exclusively at home. Probably is nice having a much easier schedule. Purple Jesus will still be able to make plenty of money in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky on his own terms.

Dave has had an amazing career. He is cutting back & still earning in Ohio. The travel was getting to him. Good for him.

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
