Bingo. Funny how none of the Congress has offered to defer their salary to help pay SNAP benefits. They all just want to blame the other side. And Trump that has no vote on the issue. Sadly I feel that the Democrats are using the shutdown to try to win more elections next week. Too bad people have such a short memory because every voter should vote against sitting members of congress next time they are up for reelection and that goes for both sides

Unfortunately, the bottom-line today is to win elections and be in power,

Rumor has it someone just said we have to keep 'power' at all costs!

Welcome to 2025 and the world we live in!

No. Not bingo.

Nice sentiment and all that but 1) Congress is not going to defer their pay to fund SNAP and, 2) Every voter is not going to vote against all incumbents. Again, nice and all but, come on now.

As for lamenting that Dems are "using the shutdown," well, of course they are. Politics. Then again, the Republican demand to Dems  is this:

You want poor people to get food? Well ok, just let us take away health care from tens of millions of Americans. Then poor people can have food.

Do you remember the last time Republicans shut the government in order to end Obamacare?

2013... Ted Cruz led the effort in recruiting hard R House members to shut the government over the ACA.  Cruz filibustered for hours, literally reading Dr. Seuss Green Eggs And Ham for a long while.

Republicans lost that fight with Boehner saying, "We fought the good fight, we just didn't win."

He also called Ted Cruz "Lucifer." Cruz fundraised off that.

Soon after, Speaker Boehner ...gone.  Majority Leader Eric Cantor ... gone.  Replacement Speaker Paul Ryan ... gone.

The 2018 shutdown was different. Trump wanted $6 Bil to "Build the wall."  He got $1.7 Bil.  To his credit, Trump finally figured out he didn't even need Congress to get that $$$, just had to call it a national emergency, or some such.

It will be interesting to see what happens. The one thing we all know is that there is NO Republican plan to replace Obamacare. We know this because they have told us just that for the past 15 years.

Calhoun, Republicans voices are loud and clear. "Vote to open the government, and we will talk about ACA subsidies"! No one said anything about taking away healthcare from tens of millions of Americans. The lies on this site are unbelievable! Please copy and paste the republican quote. I will be waiting!

2 Federal judges ordered Administration to use the funds put aside already for SNAP

BOSTON (AP) — Two federal judges ruled nearly simultaneously on Friday that President Donald Trump’s administration must continue to pay for SNAP, the nation’s biggest food aid program, using emergency reserve funds during the government shutdown.

The judges in Massachusetts and Rhode Island gave the administration leeway on whether to fund the program partially or in full for November. That also brings uncertainty about how things will unfold and will delay payments for many beneficiaries whose cards would normally be recharged early in the month.

They are actions, not quotes....

"...the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office’s own analysis shows that at least 13.7 million Americans will lose their health care coverage as a result of Trump and Congressional Republicans’ actions. The Medicaid and Affordable Care Act cuts included in the Energy and Commerce bill will make up at least 8.6 million of that total number. And these are just early numbers from CBO – they are expected to grow."

Here is the CBO's website: https://www.cbo.gov/about/overview

If you don't like a nonpartisan source, Fox, Breitbart, FR pundits wants you on their site right now, and they'll tell you exactly what you want to hear.

He never said they said it, otherwise he would of put in quotes.  Do we see quotes, no.

You want poor people to get food? Well ok, just let us take away health care from tens of millions of Americans. Then poor people can have food.

It's essence is true by there resulting actions now and in their budget plan, with a touch of hyberbole.

The enhanced premium subsidies for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) were created under the American Rescue Plan Act, which was passed by Congress during the COVID-19 pandemic. These subsidies were intended to help lower costs for health plans and were set to expire at the end of the year unless Congress acted to extend them

The subsidies were created during the pandemic by democrats designed to expire December 2025. They were originally designed as a short-term measure.

When MAGA starts dying, like during Covid exponentially more then the dems continue to blame the dems even though your own leader is leading even though your own leader who knows nothing about healthcare during a pandemic and says and suggests dumb shit, jokes or otherwise those right wing pharmaceutical sites are still up, why, because MAGA are typically dummies and the far right who are not really MAGA will take advantage of them.

Trump pardoned a crypto guy who had done a business deal with him that made his family tens of millions of dollars.and now says he doesn’t know who he is.  Either corrupt or senile.

“President Trump last month granted a pardon to Changpeng Zhao, the billionaire founder of a cryptocurrency exchange who had pleaded guilty to money-laundering violations in 2023, and whose company struck a business deal in May involving the Trump family’s crypto venture. But now the president has claimed he did not know who Mr. Zhao was.

“Mr. Trump distanced himself from Mr. Zhao in an interview with “60 Minutes” broadcast on Sunday, during which he was questioned about the decision to pardon Mr. Zhao, who pleaded guilty in 2023 after being accused of money-laundering violations that allowed criminals to move money on his cryptocurrency exchange, Binance.

“I don’t know who he is,” Mr. Trump said. “I know he got a four-month sentence or something like that. And I heard it was a Biden witch hunt.

In seeking his pardon, Mr. Zhao hired lawyers and lobbyists with ties to the Trump administration, while Binance struck a business deal involving World Liberty Financial, the Trump family’s crypto venture, that was expected to generate tens of millions of dollars a year for the Trump family.

Asked whether he worried about the “appearance of corruption,” Mr. Trump replied that he was not concerned, then bristled: “I’d rather not have you ask the question. But I let you ask it.”
