You all know this guy. Not only does he defend a criminal who worked for Allard throwing his darts, he makes excuses for him painting him as a victim!!!  ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3

While I'm being called a "rat" here by the criminal sympathizers. Just read this, Simpson was literally driving the bus that was running over Rene in court. Everybody buys illegally prescribed drugs from North Carolina, but was just doing his job. He had a case of Lisa Gianelli syndrome.  ngc3

And the guy who drives for Dana Distributors here in Goshen is only on the hook for 31 mil in restitution.

mike- thanks for the article...I have a few thoughts....

I'm in total agreement with you that Schnittker's letter to the judge is completely inappropriate given he's a USTA Director. There should be some type of consequence for that.

I got to know Brandon Simpson somewhat when he was driving the Chicago circuit. He seemed to be a very nice respectable kid...He comes from a family of very respected horsemen including his father Dirk, who's had a very successful career...

I'm not saying Brandon isn't guilty. What he did was wrong - no two ways about it. I would think he had to be very embarrassed and felt quite shameful in front of his Dad, grandfather, uncles etc. - all who were pretty respected in the business. And although guilty, and although too much of yes man and frankly too much of a pussy not to walk away from the situation, I think the blame lies more on Allard than Brandon who was executing Allard's illegal deeds.

I think the punishment was appropriate for Simpson.

I respect your work surrounding the misdeeds of the sport. The sport will die a slow death which it's clearly in the midst of as we speak. Overall, it's a very sad story for a sport many of us grew up loving.  But there's no one to blame but the participants themselves....the ones who cheat are to be blamed for cheating...and the ones that train legit are to blame for ACCEPTING the cheating we all know that occurs...just a very sad story...and a complete JOKE that there's ZERO leadership to fix things..

Faraldo used Banca. Ford used Gillis. The point is this is no surprise. USTA directors don't seem upset with the cheating. Ray was not part of it, but a bad look in my opinion.

You have Mike Torcello doing fake buys online, Perfect Ten  something, from Wisher when it is just a JW horse. USTA should ask him for copy of payment. Probably paid in cash

I completely understand the purpose of the character references these two and others made on the behalf of Brandon Simpson and more importantly his wife and children.
They read more like Simpson was/is a complete moron than a hoodwinked employee.
Ray says he has known Simpson since 2005 and considers him a good friend.  Yet, as a good friend he had no idea how much of a cheat and user of PEDs Simpson did. Simpson ran his own stable for some time and that well until it did not.
He came to the table with the most notorious drug abusing trainer of the time. Yet, the judge is nieve enough to think Brandon was corrupted and pressured by Allard to do his dirty work. It was what Simpson did best.

As for his employer writing his character reference in an attempt to keep him employed and out of prison, I thought it looked more like he was patting himself on his back, and letting the judge know he is very useful to his company and he doesn't want to lose him to prison.

There was little need for any of this self serving bullshit as Simpson already has his get out jail card when he ratted everyone one out he had direct knowledge of.
Yes, Brandon Simpson is the definition of a rat. Give up all and everything to save your skin.
All, he needed to do was maybe 18 months. But, when it really counted, his true character showed up and he is now not only a convicted felon but a a certified rat.
The stand up, all American tough guy the other 2 write of is all fiction.
