If the Elite accounts that are making the bets are owned by the tracks themsleves, it doesnt cost them anything other than paying for the tech and AI to send in their own bets. They wouldn't charge themselves to bet.

Its possible there is more than just AI involved in determining the bets. Who knows. But yes. Many billions.

Yup, I agree.

I'm going to speak to some people and look for answers.

I'm a nobody VIP but I'll push it a bit.

True, he's a huge gambling influencer. But how big in the horse race betting space?  Barstool exploded when sports gambling got legalized and while horse gamblers bet sports (and always have), I'm not sure a lot of newer/younger sports bettors cross into horse race betting.  They see 20% rake, 2x sports vig... I don't think so.

Saratoga and Keeneland and Del Mar draw younger but that's it. And that's where we see Portnoy show up and do a few bits for his shows or post on X.

I follow Portnoy on X and his "I Quit" posts draw 1000s of "Me Too's" but I doubt 5% of those replying bet horses.

And yes, the tracks owning CAWs is deplorable.

Your question is a tough one. I dont know. Barstoll is confident he is substantial enough to move the dial. i am certain however that he is more influential to gambling on racing than anyone else. By a lot.

You're more certain and optimistic than me and I hope I'm wrong.

I see these races at big tracks where the win odds are absolutely useless.  There was a race today at Keeneland, the 6th.  In the last 15 seconds of betting, the odds on the favorite went from 3/1 to 3/2. Cut in half.  Paulick posted on it

Interesting race, 13 and JV had the 11 almost pinned to the rail and AC couldn't even really use his whip, but he feigned the whip in the last strides.  He was never losing that race.

He'll have a fraction so low it will be considered ZERO influence.

The honest horseman need to do a NA walkout.

Let them scratch 3/4's of all the horse and see if they can make a card.

The gamblers should be thrilled, and then we're all in solidarity.

We basically have the same gripe however it affects us differently but same bottom line.

CAW is probably illegal is the theory and that should be pursued.

A day after swearing off race betting (after the Breeders Cup), here's Portnoy today after firster Wondergir Carly runs off.

He didn't last as long as it takes to defrost a pork chop.

His level of fortitude has been exposed, didn't quit, or divest, I wonder what he's going to do when he gets his invitation to join a CAW?  ngc3

They may be too greedy to make an offer.

Imagine these tracks charging themselves no takeout and having the ability to bet after everyone else after analyzing all our bets. They aren't going to share that cash machine with many people.

You for sure are associatedwith track management in some way.
Only people in the world who think gambling on racing is about "cashing" tickets.

Gambling always feeds on itself.
For example, in the 1960s, there was no:
Megamillions or Powerball
Casinos outside Las Vegas
App Sports betting
In 1976, AC came along. My uncle told me on his 1st visit to AC he saw a dozen familiar faces from Brandywine playing blackjack.
Lotteries popped up in a bunch of states.
Then, Delaware got racinos at Dover Downs, Delaware Park, etc.
Now, Casinos in Philadelphia area and throughout Pennsylvania.
15 apps to bet the NFL and College

Each of these took a little something away from parimutuel wagering. It can't sustain system wagering too.
I'm not Hush; we live in different states. Therefore, anyone saying so I wager $1,000 I'm not him. Any takers please set up escrow account for wager. You'll lose!

I don't know if he quit betting on horses or not. He's a capitalist. He is not going to take up this fight. A national boycott, even including the biggest gamblers (non-CAW bettors) will not work either. There's no staying power to that. First, track ownership/management needs the CAW dollars. At least they do now. Second, they are simply convinced that the impact of the CAW's on all other bettors is "tolerable" or "bearable"-----and that belief in part comes from because people keep betting. Albeit less, but they keep betting. The tracks know that there will always be a sucker. That is where bettors have to hit them and show them otherwise.
