All bettors should unite on Breeders Cup weekend and do the same. But they won’t.
Hopefully Portnoy has some influence, betting into CAW tracks is a losing strategy.
He's got more influence than anyone in the gambling space. That's a fact. He has been been on the offensive, exposing CAWs all day. There's even been a scathing story from the main barstool account. Tracks should be very nervous but they are very likely dumb enough to not even know
He'll have a fraction so low it will be considered ZERO influence. The honest horseman need to do a NA walkout.Let them scratch 3/4's of all the horse and see if they can make a card. The gamblers should be thrilled, and then we're all in solidarity. We basically have the same gripe however it affects us differently but same bottom line.CAW is probably illegal is the theory and that should be pursued.
If the tracks got legally pursued about the CAWs, these tracks would be in a devastatingly bad sitaution. The issue is getting this investigated by the right people. The ultimate question is what would happen if they were eliminated entirely? My guess is the entire wagering portion of the industry completely collapses.
These CAWs work on a sliding scale of % of the pools, it's a good question. I'm sure they're meant to win and also by not saturating the pools with mostly their own money. 30-40% reduction I think is the reported number at the tracks they're in.But so what they're all on welfare money from the Casino, in Canada their govt subsidizes directly or it has.
The biggest issue is if NYRA and Stronach not only own the CAWs but they have their own accounts and are skimming and profiting from their own pools. This is what portnoy has been saying. If true, oh my. Save your tickets
NYRA top guys have their own accounts, I know that for a fact. They get inside info all the time because they are the inside.Profiting is also about winning.Skimming though, I think you need to play that one out how it's happening.Funny, true story was talking to an exec there on the day the tote system was screwing up a couple weeks ago. He said to me, we own 49% of this tote, they don't tell us shit.
Not talking about NYRA top guys personal accounts betting just like you and i do. What portnoy is talking about is the Elite accounts betting 50% of the pools using AI to place bets at the last second actually being owned by NYRA and stronach. These are not human personal accounts. They are AI driven computer accounts. ELITE refuses to disclose any information about their accounts citing contractual agreements. Seems like Portnoy knows more than we do.
From what I understand they pay a fortune $? to have the opportunity, so they buy in, then they get a percentage of the take out back, much bigger than say a rebate that can go upwards of 8%. Bet 500,000, lose 50,000 = $450,000 + 62,500 (12.5% of their rake on the 500,000 wagered) = $512,500 In that scenario they can lose and win $12,500, and yes it looks like a conflict of interest. Worst they control so much money I think jockeys and trainers are in on it and that is why they're getting inside stuff, fixing races too. There is now billions on the line.
