Plus look at who Karl raced against - a bunch of nothing.  Amazing Catch can't beat a nw5000 l6 and highland kismet isn't beating anyone.  Not one trotter from that crap is worth a nickel. 

He got the money and he can only race against who he can but he has no pedigree to speak of and he will not make a stud no matter what anyone says.  Diamond creek backed out when they seen the writing on the wall.

On paper, Maryland is absolutely the better stallion prospect. Much better bred. He, like Karl, eclipsed a million as a 2yo. Unlike Karl, did not win the Hambo. TBD if he remainder of his 3yo campaign turns to ash like Karl's. I personally believe it will not and he will do ok. I would absolutely breed a mare to Maryland and would not send one to Karl. In fact I am very curious to see where he lands, since HSF now owns part of Super Chapter I am guessing not there.

However..one really never knows who the next big sire will actually be. Just like not many people could predict a Six Pack would win the Hambo. Both the fun and frustration of the sport

Karl was a great two year old and very good three year old. The Hambo winner always gets extra credit. They have been collecting him and will breed mares on frozen sperm collected.

They are not going to let him snoozefest slow fractions and if he tries to park out Super Chapter or Emoticon in a wild speed duel like he did with Cuartro a few years back that horse will finish out of the money and another horse like Maryland will just go right on by.
