SPA Friday, Day VII, 7/18/25
« on: July 18, 2025, 01:26:27 AM »
The Grade II Shuvee, that's it for me at the SPA where the weather should make Fast and Firm courses.

I'm not sure if I'm digging deep, or my brains have been fried by the last 2 weeks.

(505PM) Race 8 - #1 Sidamara, Blinkers On

Why was the #1 the favorite last race over Gun Song, makes no sense.

She hasn't run to the expectation of her pedigree yet.  In her defense that champion mother hasn't put out anything good, nada.

So what's to like:

A - Was the illogical favorite last race.
B - Blinkers On
C - Has been having the absolute best workouts at the SPA since May and has yet to race there.
D - The Connections

At that kind of price I'm going win and place the #1, #1 all in the exacta key box, then start the keys back and forth with the exacta, tri, and sup with the 3,4,5.  Box too with them, a part wheel with them and reverse with alls at the end.  DD with previous race and with 8th and 9th using the #1 and alls.  $105 should do it.

Throwing in the single Del Mar Stakes, Caesars Sportsbook Oceanside

Should be Fast and Firm at Del Mar

(830PM) Race 8 - Taking a shot with the #1 Cali Cat and new jockey on him Vincent Cheminaud.  Don't care where JJ Hernandez landed, he's had 3 seconds with him and that's frustrating. Dropping to a mile from last, likes the sprint turf, broke his maiden at Del Mar.  Fresh and had some sharp workouts at Santa Anita.

#1 win and place, exacta key box with all.  DD in 7th using all, in 8th using #1 and all in the 9th.  About $80 total.

Good Luck!

A handicapping thread should not be simply posting numpers, but offering an explanation of selections are arrived at.

Love your description of how you arrived at #1 in the Shuvee. I'll be rooting for you!

He knew he had it all along. Was looking around and then finally cut him loose.
Wesley Ward, turf sprints. Not his first.

My first bet of the day at the Spa. Betting number #3 Lady Meis, an Irish bred. In a little traffic last out. Her pedigree says she might like the longer Distance. $$20 Win and $60 Place.  $3 Exacta wheel 3/ 1 4 6 8 9 10 11

Left turn to grab a cold one, wow, losing by that little, he would of won by 10 or so.

(505PM) Race 8 - #1 Sidamara, Blinkers On

1 minute before getting loaded in the gate the #1 peaks over and looks at the #2 with incredible fear, no body language just the look.

I didn't cancel, but that image won't leave me, and if they're not leavers in that type situations they're forgettors.

Horse needs a courage transplant.

This horse was scared to death and ZERO talent.
