I see it one step further. If you look at Yonkers, the majority of New York taxpayer funded purses, goes to out of state owners. And, increasingly ,out of the country owners.
This BS needs to be corrected.

Yonkers cured part of this so-called problem.  Read the condition sheet.  You don't race at Yonkers 24/7, it is very difficult to actually race there.  They don't want outsiders coming in taking $$$ from the regulars who race there!

Food for thought, I live in Florida and own horses. Why should I be punished and be unable to race in other states?

Read Plainridge condition sheets. Read Buffalo Raceway condition sheets.

Read Pocono condition sheets.  10 years ago, if you were not PA bred/sired/owned you couldn't get in to race there.  How times have changed!

They benefit Massachusetts owners like Yonkers does!

I see your point , Rainman. The problem is racing in these states is funded by state tax dollars. It is also incorporated into a state agricultural system. Why should 30-40% of every dollar dropped in a machine at Yonkers go to someone who lives 1200 miles away?
Overnight racing gets 80% of the funding. It should not be shared with residents of other states and countries.

For this reason, that is why state breds trump resident ownership. Buy horses bred in the state you wish to race.

All I know is that it is easier to get in to race at Plainridge than Yonkers!  Beckwith, Stalbaum, Greene, et al have a shuttle between Plainridge and Saratoga!
