it may be the case where they don't need these races to fill the card now When you see trackmaster 71 and under and a $5,000 claimer written, it's allowing lots of horses to race there that never could. You now see races with 2 also eligibles.  Plus many tracks have not re-opened yet and lots of trainers/owners dream of racing at the  Big M. With these conditions for cheaper horses, they can say"We raced at the Meadowlands".
Last week a horse that showed all $4,000 claiming lines and not winning, jogged when he shipped in. One thing that should be interesting to follow. These cheaper races give out much cheaper purses. Even with the big-name drivers taking time off, the handle is still over $3 million.  So why give out more purse money when you don't have to?  This should be interesting to follow. Only Time will tell

also do they do some decent younger drivers there so even though some of the big names are on vacation the racing is still very competitive

Meadowlands with a 5 claimer in 2024.  How much is that in 1976 money when it opened?  $1500 ?  Maybe..   Sad.

I saw that & was surprised by it. $12,500 is a big purse for Amateur races & especially for how cheap they are.

If even half of what SCM says about Dave Glasser is true, what a douchebag!  He should've been as welcome as shady Joe after pulling some of that bullshit!

Meadowlands needs to get the lower priced claimers raced it missed a week as well and the top drivers are not coming to sit on the bench and watch this stuff in the winter. This week they will have plenty of 7500, 10, 15 , 20 claimers full fields for sure . The amateur's can go to Freehold or tag there horses most of who will be non competitive .

Look at that blow hard who was 2/5 last week in there you have to protect the bettors . that thing was a 7500 moving up into a 12500- 15,000 claimer and losing a real driver. Gural wants to protect his handle and not chase people out east..

Not a fan of amateur races --- don't play them --- but gotta say they were bet as much as any race --- so there were gamblers who either saw value OR are degenerates.

The one thing bothered me was when they had 2-3 races, was that these amateur drivers were getting 2-3 drives.

Can't complain about drivers on Friday night being there if they take potential drives away from them.

With the cheapo's stepping up like they have been,it adds credence to the old "just needs a bigger track" by-line!

looks like you won't see the amateur races for a while. At least not the 3 to 4 races on a given night. Friday's card has 14 races with almost all 10 horse fields, even some races with also eligibles, Curious what happens next Friday.

Amateur drivers may be in Florida - Usually driving at Pompano, now just taking in some warmer weather. They'll be back when the birds fly back north.

Looks like the amateurs are not needed anymore at the Meadowlands. Again It's not listed on the conditions sheet for this week. They can fill the box now with cheap TM races and save purse money and the public bets as much on these cheaper TM too. Curious about what or who decides when they come back like last year with 3 to 4 races on a card.
