The racing season is almost over in Maine. He can't make money anyway. Is he seeing any action?

Racing continues at Cumberland thru Dec 21, Sat/Sun in Nov, and F/S/S in Dec.  That said, no one makes money racing even during mid season in Maine, so…….  As for Mr. Campbell, he has been MIA on the Maine scene since his “trouble.”  Been making some poor choices.

Drew was making some good money at plainridge. He won 3 races there the day before he disappeared.

A perfect case of how alcohol  can ruin a life. Years ago, he spent a year in jail, and now the new case that got him kicked out of the country.  Thankfully, no one was ever hurt when he was driving drunk.    When sober, a real nice guy who has a great sense of humor.  He'll fit driving there. IF he gets the chances.  Time will tell

Sorry to hear all the sad news about Drew Campbell. I chatted with him many times at Scarborough Downs when it was open. I never knew of his drinking problem. I hope he gets help and turns things around.

Some guys hide it well.
I once worked with a guy for months and never knew he drank until I saw him sober

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
