Poor guy must be lonely in that booth these days.

Race 9   p5 carryover

7 win box 27   dd  27/47   p5   27/47/2/6/12

The only people there are HO, the 5 people in the grandstand, and the horsemen.

Such a shame. I was staying with friend near Goshen a couple of months ago through Monday and I was pumped to hit Monti ( been there over 100 times at least in their better days) and the pipes broke and they cancelled.

I would have kept Howard company....Watch it you clowns...not in that way.  I'll leave that to the strippers I would have invited to the booth.

Race 10  47 for the dd   dd  47/2  p4 carryover  47/2/6/12

I wonder if Johnny's go go stripper bar is still across from the raceway. My memories of it were up to the early 90's. Also at that time everybody including the drivers and trainers hung out in Carpenito's restaurant/bar across the street.

You'll have to ask Gagoots about the strip joint.

The busiest spot in Monti used to be the payphone in front of Carpenitos. This was pre cellular phones. I was a salesman and I needed to call my orders in. I would have to wait my turn so certain drivers who were racing that day would call their bets into their bookies before the races. Good thing I had good hearing. And believe me, they were not betting themselves.

They still let fans in at Monti?  I thought they shut that down because literally only 10 people were showing up at the track.

If you go back even further in the 70s -- Johnny's was quite popular, also the Bon Vivant. Across the street from the track you had the Round Robin diner and the Chateau restaurant/bar.

I imagine that must have same windows open. How else would the drivers bet against themselves Pretty soon we will see drivers come onto the track with cellphone and betting on the ADWS at the last minute, Pocono Downs likely wouldnt mind that.

So much for being retired can't this guy just go away already glad I didn't get anything in today and won't have to listen to him

I used to spend a lot of time up there because I had a summer home in the Mongaup valley/Bethel about 5 miles up the road from the raceway.
Some places I enjoyed, Tilly's diner diagonally across from the track. The horizon diner, the ice cream stand in White Lake, my daughters loved to go there on a hot summer night. and other places whose name escape my memory.
Delmonico's in White Lake was still there, now I understand most of the area I speak of is destitute.

I haven’t been to MR in at least 5 years but can tell you nothing but a mechanic was open directly across from the track. Tilly’s is still open up the hill going east as is a Best Western hotel.

Is Tilly's still an old time silver diner?
I used to love their peanut butter pie.
Is Carpenito's still there?

If you go on Facebook you can see Tilly’s entire menu. I looked but I am sorry to inform you peanut butter pie was not there.
