Todays standardbred is far superior to horses even 30 years ago.  Yes, they really do go that fast.  Much better genetics that turn over quickly.  Did you ever think you'd see trotters going under 1:50?  Two year old pacers under 1:50?  Jug heads and poor gaited horses are nearly a thing of the past...but thouroughbreds are still breaking down....

bulldog is spedcial for sure but i'm in agreement that something seems a lil fishy with the timer these days
A horse - super fast horse is one thing

But when you have a dozen horses all of a suddent pacing out of their mind.  Making 47 and 46 easy -- all of a sudden.... Horses that have been going in 48 and 49, then --- WHATS UP ?

Times mean nothing today, nobdy time trials anymore. These things are monsters. There aren't any bad bred horses now. Training has changed, bikes have changed, track surface has changed, most drivers of top caliber horses are the top tier. But remember the check doesn't say world record. Remember the days of, just go enough to get the job done.

Yes I do. Buddy Gilmour never won by more than a neck. He was saving some for the next start. No need to save anything today. The next start will be taken care of in the Fed Ex delivery.
