Like these suggestions except #4! A difference of more than 11 lengths between the 1st and 2nd quarters should be automatic penalty! Example: go 1st quarter in 27 then anything slower than 56.1 to the half is going to cost you! Nobody, bettors, owners, trainers, etc. want to be mathematically eliminated at the half!

There is a 3 second 2nd quarter rule at the meadows but it's to slow. 27 1st quarter up to 29.4 2nd quarter. Palone is the master. Jams until just before the half then sprints down the backside. Race over. Very bad for the everyone except burke who has palone 90% of the time. Maybe he can try for 25mil a year.

tmbz1 tmbz1 tmbz1 Its mathematically impossible for a horse who is in its right class-to give leaders 10L start at the half which has been backed down with this ridiculous BS that most drivers do when they hit the front-as thats how to win the race on a 1/2 or 5/8.*bartlett, Palone,George NAP --major perpetrators.
That is all fine and dandy for the leading drivers-who get to pick the best post +best horse, send it down the road and win--but this STIFLES BETTING AND ELIMINATES 2-3 HORSES EVERY RACE.
Kills handle but the administrators dont care-as long as they get their cut.

Talked to a few horsemen and they say something HAS to be done about this stupid 7-8 hole situation if they allow the leading drivers to get away with slow fractions esp the second 1/4.Its killed betting on outside posts in nearly every race.
If this rule was in place-it would eliminate the scratching of the 8 horse and make for fairer racing .
Drivers dont try out of the 8 hole on 99% of occasions anyway-so at least the next week with the rail-they get a chance to make money.
just sayin.

maybe 6 furlong races is the way to go on the half mile tracks

After watching the races this past Saturday, no need to bring back the passing lane. All the drivers move over anyway. Even 1st over guys mover as well. Good purses. Bad gambling

I have watched many races at Yonkers since they have eliminated the passing lane. The funny thing is that in some races the front driver bears out to the right creating a passing lane when he hits the top of the stretch. I have seen this happen several times but i cant attribute it to race manipulation at this point. My guess is that driver on front end knows his horse is beat and lets room for driver in second to have a chance. Maybe its something between the riders ever since passing lane was taken away.

Horses will bear out in the stretch when they tire.
